The first in NOA’s wellbeing webinar series looks at some of the challenges of and improvements to staff wellbeing during the pandemic at NOA member trusts. The session will be chaired by NOA Lead CEO, Jo Williams (Chief Executive, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS FT).
Speakers include:
- Mr Tony Clayson, Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon and Consultant Lead for Staff Wellbeing (Wrightington Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust)- Having observed the adverse impact of ‘moral injury’ on all MSK staff groups as a result of the COVID pandemic and recognising the great demands on all of us dealing with the massive backlog of orthopaedic treatment, Tony will share with us some ideas to support all Orthopaedic units through this challenging time and report back from the newly established BOA Wellness Initiative.
- Dr Alexander Yashchik, Consultant Anaesthetist and Wellbeing Guardian (The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS FT)- Alex will discuss the Staff Wellbeing questionnaire conducted at RJAH in 2020 and ask where do we go next?
- Clare Mair, Head of Organisational Development and Inclusion (Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHSFT)- Clare talks to us about the unexpected ways of connecting with colleagues through a pandemic. She discusses the differences in body language in the virtual world versus the real world and how some wellbeing initiatives may work better continuing in a virtual format.
