NOA Webinar: Sustainability and the Green Agenda in Orthopaedic Surgery

This thought provoking webinar, Sustainability and the Green Agenda in Orthopaedic Surgery, chaired by Mr Cormac Kelly, explored the latest NHS developments in sustainability in orthopaedic surgery. Irrum Afzal summarises the South West London Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) paper “Sustainability in Orthopaedic Surgery ” and gives some insight into developments at SWLEOC.

The session is also an opportunity to find out about the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital  Green Plan, which won the  “Working Towards Net Zero – A Greener NHS “award at the 2022 NOA Excellence in Orthopaedics Awards.

Additionally, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) West Midlands outlines some research in this area and introduce their proposed randomised control trial (DRAGON) on the use of disposable versus re-useable theatre gowns.
