The Value of Shared Decision Making

Dr Chloe Stewart, Health Psychologist and National Specialist Clinical Advisor in Personalised Care/MSK, NHS England/NHS Improvement

Chloe will talk about the value of shared decision making as an integral part of evidence based medicine and how two stage shared decision making can support referral optimisation, better outcomes for people and value for the wider health and care system.

Guidance and tool kits have been developed to support the implementation of evidence based self-management support including health coaching, peer support and self-management education. This is in direct response to the rising demand, long waits for planned care and the growing recognition that 70% of health outcomes are attributed to socio economics and health behaviours.

Chloe will be joined by representatives from Versus Arthritis and the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) who have supported the development of the tool kits.
