Enabling Best MSK health: an overview of the NHSEI MSK strategy
National Clinical Director for MSK, Andy Bennett opens the conference with an update on the national issues and strategy for MSK including:
- restoration of services and improvement strategy
- working with ICS’s
- supporting people waiting
- the Solving Together initiative

Do we need to change anything?Mr James Hunter, GIRFT Clinical Lead for Paediatric T&O and Consultant Trauma and Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospital James will present the GIRFT paediatric T&O work with emphasis on matters relevant to NOA members. He will show some of the live metrics on Model Hospital and suggest actions to improve quality and efficiency in paediatric orthopaedic care. |

Ashstead Suite12:00-12:45pmThe Value of Shared Decision Making Dr Chloe Stewart, Health Psychologist and National Specialist Clinical Advisor in Personalised Care/MSK, NHS England/NHS Improvement Chloe will talk about the value of shared decision making as an integral part of evidence based medicine and how two stage shared decision making can support referral optimisation, better outcomes for people and value for the wider health and care system. Guidance and tool kits have been developed to support the implementation of evidence based self-management support including health coaching, peer support and self-management education. This is in direct response to the rising demand, long waits for planned care and the growing recognition that 70% of health outcomes are attributed to socio economics and health behaviours. Chloe will be joined by representatives from Versus Arthritis and the Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) who have supported the development of the tool kits. |
